What Is Solassure? New Zealand’s Solar Installer Certification Explained

Until recently, New Zealand had no independent way to tell a well-run solar installer from one that wasn’t. Buyers had to take a company’s word for its quality. Solassure changes that.

Integrated Electrical & Solar is a Solassure certified installer, and here’s what that means if you’re thinking about solar for your home, farm or business in Northland.

What is Solassure?

Solassure is a quality mark for solar and battery storage providers in New Zealand, built and run by SEANZ, the Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand. Installers can’t buy the mark. They have to be assessed against its standards, and every certified business is listed in a public directory on the Solassure website.

What certified installers are assessed on

  • Technical quality: system design, the products supplied, installation and workmanship
  • Sales and ethics: how systems are sold and quoted
  • Customer service and after-sales support
  • Warranty expectations: being clear about what is covered, and by whom
  • Local support and long-term guidance for the life of the system

Certification isn’t a one-off. It’s reviewed every year, so an installer has to keep meeting the standard to keep the mark.

Why it matters when you’re buying solar

A solar system is a long-term investment, and a lot of what determines how well it performs can be missing from a quote: the design, the cabling, the switchboard work, the commissioning and who looks after it afterwards. Solassure gives you an independent check on those things before you sign, rather than finding out years later.

How to check an installer is really certified

Look the business up in the Solassure directory. If a company shows the Solassure logo but isn’t listed there, it isn’t certified, and SEANZ asks to be told about it. You can see our listing here.

Integrated Electrical & Solar is Solassure certified

We’ve passed the Solassure audit and our certification is current. It reflects how we’ve always worked:

  • Every job is done by our own electricians. We do not subcontract.
  • We install tier-one equipment only, and we’re a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer.
  • Our installation work is backed by a 10-year workmanship guarantee.
  • We’re Master Electricians and SEANZ members, based in Whangārei and working across Bream Bay, Mangawhai and Northland.
